Software Solutions for Interwoven
In This Issue
Autonomy to
Acquire Interwoven
Autonomy has
announced its intention to acquire
Interwoven
for ~$775M in Q2 2009. Detailed information is
available on this merger through both company's web
sites, and through increasing media, blog, and
newsletter coverage (like this). DocAuto
currently only develops products for the
Interwoven WorkSite platform, and we're enthusiastic
about the benefits this merger will afford to us and
our clients.
WorkSite is one of Interwoven's core products, and
has been the market leader in content management in
the legal and other professional services
industries. We look on this as an excellent
opportunity for Interwoven and DocAuto to expand
into Autonomy's customer base, and for Autonomy
products to be promoted into Interwoven's strong
WorkSite base.
We will be looking to expand our development into
the Autonomy family of products, especially those
using Autonomy's
IDOL architecture.

Important
Notice about DocAuto Software Licensing
Important Notice To All DocAuto Partners and
Customers:
In May 2008, our license key vendor, Element 5,
made a change in their software "wrapping" system (
that utilized "POP" codes) that drove us to develop
our own license key system, which is now fully
operational. Many of our clients have already
migrated from POP codes to the new DocAuto "key"
system. However, clients who haven't installed
any updates may have software that is functioning
using the old POP code system which was installed
when the original purchase was made.
Please be advised that
effective May 2009, ALL POP code support will be
discontinued by Element 5.
This means that any product installed with a POP
code will cease to function. It is VERY important
for you to review your software (or for resellers,
your customers' software) to ascertain if any
installations are still using POP codes. Here are
the procedures if you have POP code software
(generally anything installed before Summer 2008):
1. For users with active Annual Support,
please send an email to
support@docauto.com and request a new license
key and software that does not use POP codes.
2. Users who have allowed their Annual
Support to lapse will be provided with a license key
file so they can use the last version of the
software they had. We will not provide new software
or licenses. You'll receive the license key file
when you send an email to
support@docauto.com with a list of the
product(s) needed.
3. For clients with products that we no
longer support (such as MakePDF, iManSync, iMHot,
etc.), we'll provide a license key file so the
product version installed can continue to be used.
Again, you'll get the license key file by sending an
email to
support@docauto.com with information about the
specific product(s) needed.
Note that these procedures do not apply to
clients using "unwrapped" software from our secure
client portal.
If we're proactive about this early in 2009, we
can handle whatever migration is left in an orderly
fashion. We don't want clients to be caught by
surprise one day and panic. We also don't want a
crisis situation where everyone is trying to get a
license key at the last possible moment. We
appreciate your cooperation in reviewing your
software status and contacting us if you need to
swap a POP code for a license key.

Tech Tip
Server-side E-Mail Filing to
WorkSite using
OutiM Server and the new OutiM Server Client
Utilities:
One of the easiest ways for users to migrate
their e-mail is to move e-mails directly to the
e-mail folder of the appropriate WorkSpace.
However, this is time consuming, and not possible
when a user is working in cached mode, or otherwise
not connected to the WorkSite system.
The new Client Utilities add-in for DeskSite or
FileSite allows users to create a
pseudo-matter-centric set of Outlook folders (exact
WorkSite folder replication) with one click
that will create organized folders where users can
move messages directly within their mailbox. OutiM
Server then automatically copies, moves, or moves
and replaces the moved content with a link to the
content now stored in WorkSite.
One click can create
potentially hundreds of organized filing folders in
Outlook that are guaranteed to match the proper
WorkSpaces in WorkSite.
