DocAuto Takes the Lead in Understanding How Customers Implement True Matter Centricity
Many of you may have participated in the First Phase of the DocAuto Customer Interview Research Program which took place during 2-3rd Quarter. This program, conducted by the consulting firm, The Propellant Group, involved in-depth interviews with IT leaders among its customer base to better understand the issues, challenges and best practices associated with achieving a true matter-centric environment. The results of this phase have greatly expanded our knowledge of how you view key issues. We thank all of those who participated as we believe it was a ground breaking research program.
We are continuing with providing industry-leading knowledge about matter-centricity with two new initiatives:
Phase 2 of the Customer Interview Research Program: This program’s goal is to interview a further 20 IT leaders regarding their perspective on matter-centricity, the key issues facing IT leaders in the legal field today, and feedback on how we can make our products better. We schedule these interviews flexibly around your schedule. Please contact Fred Walti at fred@propellantgroup.com to sign up. All participants share in the results.
DocAuto is leading the matter-centric discussion at the LegalTech - 5th Annual Law Firm Chief Information & Technology Officers Forum. DocAuto has been selected to lead a panel discussion of industry leaders discussing proven Best Practices for achieving and maintaining Matter Centric Collaboration within legal firms. David Kiefer, President of DocAuto and an industry-recognized thought-leader relative to matter-centric designs will be joined by three high level executives in major firms with extensive experience in DMS, Matter Centric designs and the Matter Centric implementation processes.

Product Updates – WorkSite Watchdog Server
Watchdog Server 1.5.6 was released today with important new functionality for monitoring activity on documents within sensitive WorkSpaces, Tabs, or Folders. This functionality allows users to keep track of different types of activity on documents that may be in multiple folders, or may have different metadata from the folders or WorkSpaces where they are stored. This functionality works with matter-centric and non-matter-centric environments, and can greatly simplify the process of monitoring activity on documents that cannot be more readily identified by the other types of User, Group, or Metadata filtering currently available in the product. Close on the roadmap for Watchdog Server: extending sensitive folder filtering to include pattern matching, monitoring of activity on structures in addition to documents, and notifications based on user login activity in WorkSite. |
Important DocAuto Licensing Update Explained
Effective immediately, we’ve made a small but important improvement in the way the licensing system works. If a client has any licensed DocAuto product, compiled and packaged on October 14, 2008 or later, with a license type of ‘FULL’, the expiration date will be ignored. If you have an active support agreement on one or more DocAuto products, we encourage you to download the current version as soon as possible.
What does this mean?
A client who purchases a FULL license will be able to use that major release and version of the product (and any sub-versions) in perpetuity. You will not be able to upgrade to new releases or versions without an active support agreement, and the appropriate license file. We will automatically send out new license files to all customers that have active support as needed as new releases or versions require.
What's the catch?
License versioning still applies - If you download and install a major upgrade that has a release or version number beyond what you’re licensed for, the product won’t work.
Can you give me an example?
WorkSpace Manager is currently at version 1.5.6. If a client gets a FULL license with the Maximum Version value set to 1.5, that license will work for versions 1.5.7, 1.5.8, 1.5.9, and so on. The license will NOT work for versions 1.6, 2.0, or higher releases or versions.
Does this change affect FULL LT (Limited Time), FULL EVAL, EVAL or EXTENDED EVAL Licenses?
Not at all - only FULL licenses are affected in any way. Any other type of license will not be affected.
Why is this important?
Clients can be assured that they can use any purchased product, with minor support releases (sub-versions), as long as they like, even after their support period expires.
What does the license type ‘FULL LT’ stand for?
‘FULL LT’ stands for FULL Limited Time. DocAuto products can now be purchased for limited time or transient use. For example, short-term (6 month, 3 month, or 45-day) licenses for WorkSite Exporter or iImport are now available to address one-time or other short-term needs, such as a firm merger.
